Recipes for a jubilee tea party ...

I hope that you are enjoying your week so far. Mine has been lovely but I am getting a little exhausted with this heat here in London so am hoping and praying that it'll soon cool down a little at night and then maybe I could get a good nights sleep. Well here's to praying.

Anyhow, with the jubilee days away now I wanted to give a little link up to recipes that would suit an ideal English garden tea party.

Oh and by the way my neighbour agreed to have a little get together at hers so on the 5th  i'll be heading next door ! I am ever so delighted and thrilled to be planning a small party.

And for those that prefer to have a little more than tea to really get the party started then try this which to me is the perfect summer drink ! It's Pimms and Lemonade.

Don't forget the cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches, smoked salmon and cream cheese and basically any little sandwich will do provided you trim the crust off and turn them into tiny triangles like such.

Put up some bunting and lets start celebrating. Cheers !

HOW ARE YOU CELEBRATING THE JUBILEE ?

Gold cutlery or not ...

Have you noticed how popular gold plated cutlery has become ? I am totally smitten and in love with this new trend.

No more silver and in with the gold I say ! Well this really works for me, but does it work for everybody ? Would you hire a set for your own wedding ?

The Queen's Jubilee ...

A little aside from wedding planning for the moment and onto the Queen's Jubilee which is fast approaching. All the advertising here in London has me thinking that perhaps I should do something on the 5th June this year to celebrate along with half of the nation for the event. No I will not be one of those crazy wanna be there at Buckingham; I do not fancy getting squished and squashed and trodden on by some crazed tourist who just has to get a glimpse of the Queen, snap snap snap and 10 wounded people later sorry sorry sorry. No it's really just not for me. Been there done that !

Hmm now a street party has me thinking 'wouldn't that be darn fun'. Yet me thinks that Camden council will not be wanting to close our rather busy main road down for well lets say most of the day and night cause the likes of my neighbourhood would in fact party on hardcore into the wee hours of the morning. Yes I was neighbours with Amy Winehouse !!

Whata ya do. What do you do when you are unfortunate enough to not have a garden ? Oh I got it, swing on by round ya neighbours 'hey Annie up for a party ? I have triangular sandwiches, scones, sausage rolls, victoria sponge cake oh and just in case you're worried a good bottle of wine' Annie's response 'well come on in dear lets not wait too long a birdie might fly in a raid your little basket of delicacies and while we are at it crack open that bottle' lol. Yes my Annie loves her wine and she certainly loves our champagne. I am sure she would not in the slightest refuse us.

So planning. How to make our little party extra special for a dear 60 something wonderful neighbour Annie.

Well I would like to keep it very simple so it would have to be something like this:

(source: supanet)

With the addition of fairy lights weaved through the bushes and a couple of bottles of good french wine to really make it a fabulous party and if you want to be very English then a bombay sapphire gin and tonic lovely oh and perhaps pimms and lemonade and of course pots of tea to go with the scrumptious cake and cupcakes alright I know maybe I am getting a little carried way for three people maybe the wine and tea might just be enough !

So that'd be it. Doesn't it sound exciting. Oh I really want to do this now. I need to pop on round this weekend and see if she would be up for it.

Are any of you planning to celebrate the jubilee with the queen ? If you are abroad are they broadcasting the event where you live ?

Like always I would love to know what your thoughts are. Are you for the jubilee or just not really bothered about it. Me I am not fussed it's just an excuse to get involved styling for another event, make good food, eat and drink and enjoy some time with family and close friends.

I hope you are having an amazing day mine was a hot and sunny one and LOVED it !!

Wedding dresses ...

Today is a special day and it is so because it is the restart of me in search of my sweet sweet wedding dress which I am sure to find sometime this summer. Now last year I found a wonderful dress which I'll have you know my lovely mommy picked out for me, but 2 years before my wedding  I was not sure to purchase in fear that my tastes would change. And i'll have you know they have !

I have fallen in love with several dresses but like always they are in America or Australia or some other distant land far far from my own. Here are a few that I am so falling madly and deeply in love with; simple but so freaking elegant and darn beautiful !

As you can see they are all so beautiful. But what I actually choose obviously will be a mystery only my mommy and maid of honour will know tehehehehe !

Hope you all enjoying this wonderful Monday.

Cupcake Party ...

Have any of you ever checked out the blog The Sweetest Occasion ? If you have them maybe you would agree with me that there are some sweet ideas for wonderful children's parties. One which really made me smile and coo and ahhh was the cupcake themed birthday party. The party looks to have been lots of fun and there was some lovely activities for the children to ensure that they wouldn't be running around in the house too much :) Which I believe would be a good thing ?!

How simple is this cupcake garland. In fact I remember putting one of these together for my 30th lol last year and it was great I loved it.

Paper cupcakes and icing with different patterns for sticking together.

Of course real cupcakes to decorate with coloured icing of your choice and sweet sweet sprinkles.

And a yummy sweetie table which I feel that every child needs. It is their birthday isn't it so time to let your hair down a little bit and let the child indulge !!!

Isn't it just super adorable. To see more of this party please check it out here. I would love love to throw a party like this some day soon. If any of you are in London with children and looking for someone to organise your daughters birthday party and are interested in this theme please give me a shout.

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

Bridal Showers...

If you are in the UK perhaps you are fully aware of the traditional English hen night ?! Drink, dancing, dancing and more drink oh and maybe a dinner thrown in just to balance it all out. What is nice about that ? Now don't get me wrong partying can be fun, but you can do that anytime. So why not really treat your Bride to be. Make it something really special. Something she will really really like. Now please do not fret. You don't have to spend zillions and zillions of pounds to make her shriek with delight.

In fact it wasn't until I was creating my own inspiration board of what I would be interested in for mine (just to make my maid of honours life that much easier lol love you) that I realised there are so many other things to do that can be exceptional and truly wonderful and a whole lot more satisfying than going out and getting a little topsy turvy ! Who wants to wake up with a banging headache not remembering what happened the night before ? I know I don't. So just to make it clear I DO NOT LIKE CLUBBING !

Here however, are things that do thrill and delight me and are pictures that make up my mood board on my pinterest account.

(Sources: pinterest)

My vision is an outdoor picnic with fairy lights hanging in trees, a pretty well laid table with peonies and ranunculus's which are my favourite flowers ever !  A pretty tea service with a selection of ice teas in glass dispensers beautifully displayed with fruits and herbs that compliment each other and if not sparkly pink champagne then pink lemonade with cute stripy straws being sipped directly from the bottles ! And amongst the other many ideas buzzing around my pretty little head the ladies would all be wearing sweet pastel airy fairy type dresses to enhance the ambience. Beautiful if I may say so myself.

It would be so lovely to have if not all of my dream brought to life then some part of it. To check out the rest of my board please click on here

For now beautiful people I am going to get some shut eye as I have two toddlers and their lovely parents staying with us for the next few days.

My week in instagram...

(source: my own pics)

There has been a lot of decorating this week. My dad came around to put up our new wallpaper in the lounge which I absolutely adore and there has been a lot of painting in the guest room in fact I was covered from head to toe in paint for much of the week. And to top it all off the bathroom is almost finished. You cannot understand how relieved I am to say that. It has taken us ages to find a nice floor and blind for the window which we both like and finally we have. The flat is really starting to come together. But like always there are a few tweaks that need to be made. Like finding a wallpaper for the chimney breast in our bedroom. The wall is so plain as you can see from the above picture, it just needs a little something, same goes for the lounge bookcase, I really need to stylise it. I feel so blah about it right now it's unreal.

If you have any idea of what I can do to the bookcase; any inspiring pics please send them my way.

My heart melts ....

Yesterday I got the sweetest of cards ever. It was sent by one of my girls accepting to be my bridesmaid and it went along the lines of:

We've been more than cousins
All of these years,
Through the thick and thin,
Some joy and some tears.

When I think back on those special days,
Of the fun we had in so many ways,
I think of the way I always knew,
I'd stand beside you when you say 'I do!'

You are my dearest cousin,
and it is so very clear,
that our love for each other
will last though the years.

A special poem I have chosen for you,
Along with your flowers,
please remember it too.

A memento it becomes
from your wedding day.
That I hope you will cherish
as the years pass away !

The card was so cute; all hand made and beautifully written that I daren't ever throw it away. I cried so much afterwards and was thoroughly thrilled that she said yes. So a little thank you goes out to her Rose Elizabeth Buckley the little star she is ... I can't wait for you to look all beautiful and glamourous on my big day and have you walk down the aisle with me; nanny would be so proud. I love you so much and thank you a million times over !

So there you have it a little post for today. I am again in tears just writing this. For now I will sign off and go busy myself looking at bridesmaid dresses.

Bridesmaids ...

Have any of you seen that movie "bridesmaids' aren't the dresses just horrendous ! Well I thought that was a joke and with it being a movie I thought surely everyone has gotten over those dreaded silk, satin and ruffled, puffy sleeved bridesmaids dresses ? Urm actually I was wrong. I have seen pictures of weddings here in the UK where brides have their ladies dressed from head to toe in this stuff. Have they not been out of their homes in the past decade ?! I mean seriously it's time to move on and get with it lol !

I don't know whether it is just me now that I live in a cosmopolitan city. Maybe I am more in tune with fashion what works and what so does not work, but even at bridal shops especially in my hometown I have seen brides trying on dresses that don't at all suit them and have their poor bridesmaids looking like some sort of puffy exotic bird lol !

I dread to think what my girls are thinking ! I mean I don't want them stressing. That I certainly don't want.  Ladies just to warn you now ( you know who you girls are) I have taste and I promise, promise I will not make you wear something you won't feel comfortable in or look stupid in.  I want you to be happy, feel beautiful and be all smiley in the pictures on our big day.

Some of the ideas I have in mind.

My favourite material would have to be chiffon. It is so floaty and makes every woman feel elegant and beautiful. Or so that is what I believe.

(source: dressesuk)

(source: weddingbee)

I also really like the idea of all my maids having the same colour dress but different styles to really suit them.  Maybe one would prefer a shorter dress while the other would be more inclined to wear a full length dress. Who knows !

(source: bing)

Or perhaps something fun and quirky I mean these are really beautiful. The second picture has a French thing going on ! Oh and if you are just reading this blog my fiance is from France maybe this would be his thing too lol !!

What do you girls reckon ? If it was your wedding what you have your girls dressed in ? I would love to hear your thoughts I really would.

Comments are always loved by me !

One of the things that I am passionate about is ...

baking. I love to bake and cook and once I get started there is just no stopping me ! I feel so passionate about making sure that the food that goes on to my plate not only looks appetising and pleasing to the eye, but that it has been made with love. My belief is that if you feel good about the food and give it as much attention as you would a relationship with a loved one then that food is an immediate cure for all ills. I love to eat fresh and organic food. I don't think that there is anything worse than processed rubbish that tastes like; well to be blunt a pile of crap.

Food should make your heart flutter and dance with joy. Importantly the dishes should not only be arousing but a pleasure to the eye. There are so many great recipes out there and I have pinned so many on my pinterest board food and drink to try that it is getting a little impossible to find the time to make them all !

I mean when I saw these pictures on blogs on couldn't help but smile and wish that somehow with a click of the fingers or a twitch of my nose these dishes would magically appear right in front of me for moi and myself only to enjoy !

(source: dustjacket)

(source: prettyblog)

(source: blissfulbblog)

(source: evanskitchen)

To me they are light and airy foods enough to please the appetite whilst keeping you from feeling like a pig ! I don't really like to eat foods that make you think of slobbing around; here I am talking about curry and beer and other foods like pizza from a well known fast food chain, it just isn't me, but neither do I like too fancy a food. Don't get me wrong I like indian food and pizza but rather than order a take out I would much prefer to make it at home so that I know exactly what is going into my food. I am sure that a lot of you would agree with me on that matter.

Well I will leave it at that for now. I am going to try the coconut panna cotta tomorrow as it is setting in the fridge right this second. I am hoping it is a winner !
